Little progress

Not much happening on the car, touching up the 12 volt battery occasionally.
This spring i measured all the cells after my mishap of discharge, I had charged them to about 80% and let them sit all winter. I found cell 28 was discharged but all the rest were 3.33v.
So it appears I have lost two cells from the discharge accident, and I have not done capacity testing, I had found some new old stock cells and bought a few so I will replace my bad cells.
Currently I am on the fence about keeping, selling, or parting the car as I have far too many projects in the mix and work is taking a lot of time as well

  1. Jerry,

The car looks so good and you are so close; Don't give up! I know how you feel as I have gone through the same thing myself but have always bounced back and got the build going again. I am able to drive the car around the house and can get to the grocery and hardware stores in it but I still need to get the other two modules mounted to be able to drive it to work. I have been messing with getting the charger to shut off the last couple of months but have a plan to just shut the charge down externally.

    1. Randy,

I know it would be a loss to try to get rid of it, have a friend who cannot sell his conversion. I have been driving my modified Vectrix to the store and just for fun, and now it has issue with the new battery, it just never ends.
I use a company vehicle daily so my cars and bikes get little use. I may hang on to it and upgrade the batteries at some point, it is a blast to drive!
On your charger issue, you could use the relay in the WHmeter for a voltage shutdown, but not sure how much faith I would put in the inexpensive meter to protect the battery. I was going to use it as a backup shutdown on my car.
Your Fiero is coming along, looks good!
